It is possible that the ear pain is due to reflux especially considering it's when you are lying down. It's also possible that it's due to something else such as the shift in your fluids in your sinuses and eustachian tubes. You should go back to your doctor and discuss this symptom. He may want to send you for further testing. It may help to keep a food/symptom/medication log for a few days before you go - this will help your doctor see the full picture of what's going on. Lastly, you may want to consider some preventive things such as sleeping on an incline to see if that helps.
