Q: can acid reflux cause lump in throat feeling and ear pain?

I have had a feeling of lump in my throat for about 3 weeks now. I saw my GP who said probably acid reflux. Well I wasn't satisfied so I saw an ENT who put a scope down my nose and throat and said yes, it is acid reflux. I was put on Aciphex and now a week after that I am having ear discomfort. Like fluid is in my ears, they feel plugged and I still have the lump in my throat feeling. Is this typical of acid reflux? I have never had heart burn! I am so confussed. Have an appt. with a Gastroenterologist on Monday. Any advise would be very much appreciated. I feel like I am going to choke everytime I swallow. It scares me and I cant stop thinking of throat cancer.

I also had "lump in the throat" sensation. Everyone looks down your throat and says its fine. I had 2 EGDs, mobility test, PH test, and colonoscopy. It has been there for 3 years, but as time goes on you will get used it and not be so anxious about it. The thing that works the best for me is Maalox Total. There is something with the liquid coating my throat that really helped.  I also started taking protonix which I like more than Aciphex.  Don't let doctors get you down, you will be okay. Its been 7 months since your post, are you still expiencing the tight throat feeling?  Take care

I also have "lump in the throat" sensation.  When I was first diagnosed with GERD about 3 years ago I didn't have it.  But it followed within months.  I hate it.  It bothers the most at night when I lay down.  If I prop myself up on about 3 pillows it's better, but who wants to sleep propped up all night.  Not me.  I wish there was  a cure for this.  I feel sad that I have to live the rest of my life like this.
