MY TRACHIA IS VERY IRRITATED AND FEELS AS SOMETHING IS SCRACHING IT. I HAVE TO PUT ONE FINGER ON MY AIR PIPE JUST ABOVE MY CHEST AREA WHEN COUGHING TO HELP WITH THE EFFECTIVENESS OF COUGHING, BUT IT DOES NOT HELP. THE SCRATCHY WHEEZY FEELING. AS  I BREATH IN AIR THE DESCRIBED AREA  FEELS AS IF THERE IS SOME RESTRICTION WITH TO AIRFLOW.  I HAVE BEEN TREATED FOR POST NASAL DRIP BUT I'M NOT CONVINCED THIS IS THE CAUSE OF MY LARINX IRRITATION. I ALSO DON'T HAVE MUCH PROBLEMS ACID. BASICALLY I HAVE BEEN TO THE DR'S AND UNFORTUNATELY  I ONLY GET THE RESPONCE THAT IT IS VIROL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD NOT BE TREATED AS THIS PROBLEM OCCURS REGULARY AND CONTINUES FOR A FEW MONTHS AND THEN JUST DISAPPEARS.  I REALLLY WOULD LIKE THIS DRY IRRITATING, FORCED, SCRATHY COUGH TO STOP. PLEASE HELP

If you have acid reflux, you possibly could be suffering from irritation of the trachea caused by aspiration.  I have had this many times in my life, talk to your doctor and get it checked out. He may put you on proton pump inhibitors such as Nexium, but your doctor can diagnose and determine the best course of action for you.
