Q: Does the fundoplication surgery work well on children like 16

Im 16 years old and i have gerd. Ive had 2 endoscopies and i have esophagul ulcers and im taking the highest amount of meds i can(3 protonix and 2 ranitidine, along with tums, rolaids, and mylanta) Today i disscussed the surgery with the surgien and im doing it in 2 weeks.

Hello Rachel,

Good luck with the surgery. I am sure you have a lot of questions and concerns about it. What did the surgeon say about the outcome? Most kids and teens feel much better after the surgery with fewer symptoms. You might find that you need less medication or no medication after you recover from the surgery. That would be wonderful because you are on a lot of medication right now.
