Dear C Drake,
I am not a doctor but 300 mg sounds like a large dose to me. You should certainly follow up with the doctor to look at the treatment plan again. Some patients needs stronger acid suppression from a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) or a combination of Ranitidine and a PPI. It may take a few visits to the doctor to find a treatment plan that works.
I wonder if there is another reason for the symptoms such as food allergies/intolerances, side effects of medications, ulcer, hiatus hernia. You and the doctor may need to do some more work to see if something more is driving the pain.
Let us know what you find out. Often, someone else has the same question or concern and it might help the next visitor to the site.
Keep in touch.
