i have severe pain in my stomach if i eat too late at night...is that normal?

I ate something about an hour before bed and i had the worst pain of my life in my stomach...for two hours i had really sharp pains almost as if my stomach was squeezing and releasing but never stoping the pain. the pain hurt all the way to my back and im unsure of what it is.
