Q: What happens when acid reflux returns after surgery?

I had nissen fundoplication surgery 7 years ago and have not had a problem with acid reflux since then.  Recently it has returned. Is that normal and will I have to have another surgery?

A nissen can "slip" or possibly become stretched out. Since your symptoms have returned it's time to go back to the doctor to have a thorough exam to figure out why your symptoms are back. Stephanie Reply
