I have been diagnosed with GERDS or Acid Reflux which ever you want to call it.  I do have shortness of breath when I have an attack.  It feels like I have LOTS AND LOTS of air on my stomach.  I also pass GAS A LOT.  When I start to pass the gas the shortness of breath goes away.  My Gastro Doctor told me that air was under my Diaphram causing the shortness of breath.  Try using Gas-X or some brand of symithecone for gas.  Hope things get better for you.
