Hello Ann Walker,   Shortness of breath is not a typical symptom of the acid reflux. In a posting by Dr Eisner, bloating is never a symptom of acid reflux or a side effect of the medication (Nexium in this case) You can read the entire posting here. There is another posting here that might be more closely related to what you are asking. In this posting, Dr Eisner says "Bloating, difficulty breathing, right arm pain and sensitivity to smell are not typically associated with GERD"   Hope this helps.
