Hello Cyndi,
Some children with GERD become car sick on a regular basis. I know one mom who was an expert on cleaning up the carseat because her little guy did the same thing. I think the doctor changed his medication and the problem decreased and then went away over time. She tried to time her trips out when his stomach was not full and purchased a big cover for the back seat of the car to minimize the mess. Sorry to be so graphic but I am sure you know what I am talking about.
Keep in mind that with reflux, your stomach isn't as well equipped to keep food from coming up. If you have the stomach flu or motion sickness, nausea and vomiting may be more severe than what a non refluxer experiences.
Always check with the doctor for advice on the treatment plan. It might help if you recorded a 3 day sample of the number of car trips and vomiting episodes so the doctor has a clear view of frequency of the vomiting.
Be sure to give us an update since I am sure other parents share your concerns.
