Hello Julie T,

When my daughter had a feeding tube, it took quite a bit of trial and error to figure out the best way to feed her. She needed the rate and flow adjusted so that it was quite slow. We used a feeding pump for this. As she tolerated a rate, then I would try to increase it just a bit to see if she could tolerate it. My daughter was never able to take a bolus feeding (liquid poured directly into the tube). Some children can.

Do you have a feeding pump for her? What rate have you tried so far? Have you tried another formula? Maybe her stomach is sensitive to the formula.

Here's another idea-has she been sick or is it possible she is sick? My daughter could not tolerate feeds when she was sick. Even a week or two after an illness, her feeds were affected. I would give her straight rehydration (Pedialyte) and then gradually give her half formula, half Pedialyte. Ask the doctor if your daughter should try another formula or rehydration drink for the tube feedings.

I have plenty more ideas-let me know your thoughts.
