Q: Will Prilosec OTC neutralize my prescriptions drugs if taken together?

It is possible that the medications you are taking need an acidic environment to work. That is why some meds say to take with foods, others say on an empty stomach. There are some medications that should not be taken with PPIs such as Prilosec as the PPI makes them ineffective (Plavix is the most known example). So, it's very important that you share all of your medications both prescription and over the counter with your doctors and your pharmacist. It's also important whenever possible to go to the same pharmacy. This way the computer system and the pharmacist can help track any drug interactions and precautions.
