What to do about severe constipation?
I have IBS, my Asthma went crazy, on +>40 mg of prednisone since Dec. '07,unable to wean, to hospitalizations for Solumedrol. Last hospital tirp 24 hr Ph study, severe silent reflux. Placed on 40 mg Nexium BID. Call me crazy but I have not been able to have a bowel movement since Tuesday, and I was having one normal bowel movement at least every other day. Also does this PPI therapy make anyone else excessively sleepy?

Some recommendations include:
- Drink lots of water
- Eat high fiber foods (like vegetables)
- Exercise
Also, be careful if using a laxative. Overuse of laxatives can contribute to constipation.
