Hi Lori,

If the child is having chest pain, you need to take her to the doctor immediately. There might be something serious going on and you want to find out. While online sites are great for getting information to help manage the issues, they can not take the place of your doctor's sound advice.

It sounds like your daughter might have GERD. You can read and check ther symptoms here. The throwing up is a common sign of GERD. You can read about that here. Once you have had the child to a doctor, and the doctor has confirmed the diagnosis, you can check any medicines she's been prescribed here. Then if you are interested in the various treatments available you can check those here. There is a great section here specifically about Baby/Child GER

Thanks and good luck! Let us know how things go dor you all!

Lori,

Heartburn

Heartburn in a child is similar to an adult. It can feel like a tightness in the chest or pain high in the chest.

Sour Feeling

Some children and adults have a bad taste in the mouth. When stomach acid mix with food and are regurgitated into the esophagus and throat, it tastes sour and may burn the throat and chest. A burp or belch will bring acid up and lead to a sour taste in the mouth. Sometimes I can smell the odor of the food that has come back up again. My kids sometimes say" I just threw up in my mouth".

Sorry to be so graphic. Hope you weren't eating at the computer as you were reading this message!
