Q: can GERD cause sudden lightheadedness and breaking out in a cold sweat followed by burping?

I have been to the ER 3-4 times when my symptoms occur.  I have had EKG's, Echo's, stress tests that all come back normal.  They usually tell me I have anxiety but I am still not convinced.  I was at Lowes today and all of the sudden, I had chest pain which was followed by a lightheaded feeling.  I broke out in a cold sweat then shortly after I burped a few times and fealt better.

The exact same thing has been happening to me. Ihave been to the ER five times now and they have found nothing wrong with my heart. I have been wearing a heart monitor for about a week and a half now and they have seen on my monitor when i start having all of my symptoms, but still say my heart is fine. I think what you are suffering from is acid reflux. It is a very painful something to have to deal with, but with medication and patience it should start to get better. Good Luck!!

I just had to go to the ER the other day with this stuff that I have not been able to figure out how to deal with. I get spells of extreme burping, followed by lightheadness and sometimes I even breakout in a sweat. The Burping is the worst, it is almost like it comes by reflex and I cannot control it. The Lightheadness is so severe sometimes, it feels like my entire world is spinning and when I walk, I am walking outside myself. I have heaviness and a very full bloated feeling most of the time as well. The ER checked me out for just about everything in the book and all the test came back normal. I was worried about my heart but am only 32 years old and with the normal test I think it is fine, so It must be my stomach I guess. I have taken every type of Acid controlling med you can think of and have found some foods that make it worst, among them are tomatos and tomato based sauces, but I love that stuff. At this point I dont know what to do because this is starting to interfer with my Job.

Hello, It is important to follow up with your regular doctor. Discuss the visit to the ER and the tests that were done. Discuss your diet and other treatments you have tried so far.
