intense burning in mouth at night extends to lips, causing mouth ulcers and eating problems

Tikanis
10/14/09

I recently stopped smoking after more than 50 years I was smoking 50 cigarettes a day when I stopped. I use nicorette which now I am addicted to as much as I was to cigarettes, infact nothings changed other than the way I get nicotine. I now have a very sore mouth and some kind of ulcer on my gum beneath my front teeth. I'm begining to dispare, I'm not sleeping because of the periodic burning in my mouth at night, Mouth ulcers seem to calm when chewing nicorette during the day, but at night they are much worse, sometimes 4 on my tongue. I also had splits appear on either side of my tongue.
