Q: I have heart burn so bad it makes me throw up is that acid reflux

It only happens at night, the throwing up part, but usually I have indigestion or heart burn most of the day & i've been taking over the counter ant acids, but they don't work most of the time.

Go to the doctor and ask for medication for acid reflux.  I tried Prilosec, but it knocks me out.  After several years, Zantac didn't work anymore.  Now I take Aciphex.  One little 20 mg tablet per day, that is all.

Until you get to the doctor, raise the head of your bed 6 inches.  Don't eat before bed unless it is saltines and a caffiene-free soda.  Sleep on your left side, preferably elevated.  Another thing, don't eat 3 hours before going to bed to sleep.  I don't eat past 6pm.  I have a hiatal hernia and stuff gets into it.  The soda will wash it out.  I have had to have my throat (esophagus) stretched a couple of times because it got so narrow I couldn't eat.

Stay off caffiene, it burns.  I drink caffiene-free diet sodas because I also have problems with high blood sugar.
