Hi there, is anyone suffering from the same problem as I am?  I am really worried I have been found to have 30+ food intolerances and I have stayed away from the culprit foods for a month now, my life is hellishly difficult as I have three teenagers and a husband to cook for daily.  It seems that the problem of the acid that I was trying to solve in the first instance has deteriorated further since I started the new diet.  Last year I went to see a specialist of ENT and told me it was due to acid my chronic sorethroat, I have all the atypical symptoms of gerd sore throat, hoarsness and chronic cough.  The specialist found nothing wrong with my stomach after an endoscopy and said that the next test would be a probe down my nose to measure the acid i decided not to do that after seeing my doctor but things have got worse and went to see the doctor and gave me omnoprozole 40mg daily but I wonder if I am doing the right thing I do not want it to develope into something worse please someone help me with which way I should go.

Hi Nuria,

It sounds like you are having a time. I have some links to information you might find helpful. There is a great deal of information here about GERD as well as food allergies, in fact there have been some really good shareposts and conversations about food allergies that I can direct you to. This information will come in handy when it's time to speak to your doctor. The information here will help you ask all the right questions so that you can better manage your care. Although this information is helpful, it should never take the place of your doctor's sound advice.

You can read about GERD here in the overview and you can check your symptoms here in the symptoms database. Since you have seen your doctor and he has prescribed medication for GERD, you can read about most medications here in the drugs database. Specifically you can read about Omeprazol (generic for Prilosec) here.  You can also research treatments available and alternatives here in the treatments database.

Now the food allergies. Back in November 2007, a member named Laurie in the www.MyAllergyNetwork.com (a sister site of Acid Reflux Connection) posted a sharepost about having an allergy to garlic. There are 115 responses from people who not only have allergies to garlic, but 100 other things and there are lots of suggestions, recipes and food listings to help you know what to stay away from. You can read the entire posting here. But also check out postings from Ladyisis here. Ladyisis has had acid reflux and multiple other complications. She also has a wonderful attitude and has done a great deal of research and has some ideas for getting around some of the issues.

I hope this information helps. Please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!
