Hello Marge,

Unfortunately, this is a common concern. Reflux medication, like many prescription medications is very expensive. Your doctor may know of a discount program that offers low cost or free medications. You may be able to take Prilosec and Prevacid-both are an over the counter Proton Pump Inhibitor or PPI, the same type of medication as Nexium.

If I take a PPI can I also take Tums &  pepcid. I am afraid to double up on omeprazole.

Heart attack was ruled out. I did have an endscope.  Thanks for your help. I am 71, watch my diet carefully & go to the gym.  Biggest help  so far..not eating late.  Guess I can't get over the fact that I'm still waking up & suffering.   thanks again.

Hello Marge, You can take Tums or Pepcid as long as you avoid taking everything at once. The PPI works best when taken without another GI medication. For instance, if you take the PPI every morning, wait until lunch or after lunch to take the other medications you mentioned. If you are going to the doctor, ask if there is a schedule you should follow.

I use to take nexium but it got too expensive so my doctor gave me aciphex, and if you go to aciphex.com you can get an instant coupon for 35.00 off and then they will send you a card to use all the time. But if you do not have insurance then go to the purplepill.com or nexium.com and fill out the form to get 100.00 off of your nexium RX.
