Im not a doctor or anything, ive been taking zantac do to heartburn and started looking at these questions, and your case is close to my wifes. She told me one day that her burp just smelled really bad, and being the drauma queen that she is i didnt pay any attention to then later she burped then said smell and i smelled it and it just stunk, found out whenever she drinks Dr. Pepper, it will do this, i am willing to believe its just the acid in her body mixing with this beverage and causing her to burp with a stench, so i guess just watch what you eat and drink and if the problem comes about again just remember what you drank or ate.

I too have a similar/same problem.  I have acid reflux.   I have always wondered if this was related to the acid reflux. I will get real foul smelling eggy burps. When they start I know what is coming.  They will go on for hours but the end result is vomiting.  Then usually after that I am fine and the burps are gone.  I dread this happening as it will happen about every 6-8 weeks or so.  I cannot find a pattern of what I ate last to cause it.  Can anyone help answer this or does anyone else have this happen?

I am going through this right now.  Yesterday, I ate a very large quantity of pistachios.
