Wednesday, February 08, 2012 Monica asks

Q: I have been taking Ultram (tramadol) daily for 6 years.

I take anywhere from 1 to 5 a day, usually 3. I have chronic knee pain however I also notice a difference in my energy when I take the Ultram.  It truly picks me up and gives me energy to get through the day almost like an antidepressent.

Are there any long term side effects?  I did quit taking it for several weeks, about 3 different times however there was a big difference in my moods.  I have more patience and can me it throught the day without napping. I am fairly healthy, workout regularly and eat healthy but still have no energy unless I take ultram.  Thank you so much.
