Q: My doctor has prescribed Belladonna alkaloids for hot flashes. I see no indications when researching

Does Belladonna have a positive effect on Menopausal hot flashes and, if so, is the effect beneficial enough to warrant the side effects and dependency issues?

Hi Linda,

Thank you for your question. Belladonna alkaloids have been used historically to treat menopausal symptoms. However, available research does not support the use of belladonna alkaloids for hot flashes because the medication has not been proven to work. You can read more about belladonna alkaloids here. If you are concerned about the side effects associated with using this medication, you should discuss with your doctor whether other options are available for you. I hope this helps!

Best of luck,

Casey
