Research came out last year that suggests that taking Plavix and a Proton Pump Inhibitor such as Nexium can increase the risk of a "cardiac event" such as a heart attack. You can find the link to the abstract here:

The thought is that the PPIs inhibit the activation of an enzyme that is necessary for the Plavix to work.
