i have had chest pains for six weeks. no heart trouble indicated. has been told it could be inflammation or arthritis in chest

There are actually a lot of potential causes of chest pain. If it continues or worsens with or without treatment then you should go back to the doctor for a more thorough check up.You can read more about the causes at:
