Q: My son is 6mths and has been on renititine for 4 mths. He always spits up his milk even after 2 hrs

at night as he is incapable of sleeping any longer than 2 hours at any one time even for naps in the day.  When he wakes he then wants feeding so his routine is 11.00, 2pm and 5pm and up at 6.00. However during them times he wakes up freqant from fidgeting and then being sick. I have tried not feeding him as know its contributing to the problem but he screams the place down.  i have tried watering it down from which he woke more freqant to feed as was still hungry and i have tried just giving him alittle but again will wake an hour later to have the rest. he has a constant cough, is always getting a cold and getting dirreahoa.  any advice from an exchausted mum.

Hello Carly,

I am so sorry you are on the night shift. There is nothing worse! Check out my recent blogs on this topic in the Sharepost section.

It might be time to re-evaluate the reflux treatment plan and see if adjusting the treatment would lead to more sleep at night. First, I would keep a journal of his feeding and sleep (or lack thereof) for a few days. Also note his symptoms such as spit up, diarrhea, fussing, etc. This will be vital information to share with the doctor. You might want to schedule a "sick visit" with the pediatrician just to review this information. I think it helps to alert the doctor to your top concerns. Is it his discomfort? lack of sleep? diarrhea? all 3? this will help the doctor to address your biggest concerns.

Let me know what you find out and be sure to update your story here in the ASK question or on a new Sharepost. There are plenty of parents on the night shift here. You are not alone!
