Q: Prevacid making situation worse?

Is it possible that Prevacid will make spitting up worse?  My son was born five weeks premature.  We thought he was spitting up a lot, and he was arching his back and neck like he was in pain.  I'm not sure that he needs the Prevacid.  Per the doc, we are giving it to him twice a day, per the doc.  I think he does worse after he takes it.  Any thoughts/comments?

Hello!

It is a good idea to call the doctor and ask for advice on this. Certainly any medication can cause unwanted side effects. You and the doctor will need to decide if the medication is doing what it was intended. Maybe another treatment will be recommended.

Some babies need medication while other benefit from home care treatments such as elevating the sleep surface, thickening the formula or breastmilk and small, frequent meals. Holding upright after a feeding is also a recommended treatment.

Take care,
