Prevacid making situation worse?

Is it possible that Prevacid will make spitting up worse? My son was born five weeks premature. We thought he was spitting up a lot, and he was arching his back and neck like he was in pain. I'm not sure that he needs the Prevacid. Per the doc, we are giving it to him twice...
