Q: can airway get blocked with acid reflux disease enough to make a person passout?

I saw a throat, ears, nose dr.  he put me on priloces OTC twice a day.  I don't have heartburn, however, he says acid does come back up into the esophogus.  Early in the mornings, I have trouble breathing for a little while.  Usually, it calms and i continue my day as normal...no pain, etc.  However, this morning it got sooo bad I actually passed out for a few mins.  Is it possible for GERD to affect my breathing in this way?

thank you.
