Hiatal Hernia

I recently had an endoscopy and a very large hiatal hernia was discovered. I have experienced pain in my side and under my rib cage ever since. A CT scan only revealed the Hernia.  Can all this pain be caused by the Hernia/

Symptoms: severe pain in abdomen/chest area; extreme nausea; vision closes in; increase in saliva, constantly have to swallow saliva; begin to hyperventilate; break out in cold sweat, clammy feeling all over... What am I experiencing?

Could Diet Coke be causing my acid reflux?

I get the occasional bout of acid reflux, and I've noticed that carbonation seems to cause it from time to time.  Is this possible?  If so, do I have to cut carbonated drinks from my diet?
