Does gerd cause sinus facial pain?

Can gerd go up as far as to cause severe pain in the sinuses?  I've been having this problem for quite a while where the pain actually starts in my sinus and then moves to behind my breastbone.  The pain comes in waves also and can last for hours.  Is this familiar to anyone and is this gerd?

Treating an acid attack

I have been living with reflux using Prilosec.  But, I have had two severe experiences where acid has crept up into throat and back of nose.  The pain was so severe that I almost went to the hospital.  I understand prevention is the best medicine, but how can you get rid of the acid once it's there?
