A company that bottles artesian water says its product may help people who suffer from gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD) control symptoms of the condition. Experts say the current American diet contains a great deal of protein. Protein can leave an acidic residue in the body, which contributes to acid reflux. But drinking artesian water--which is very alkaline--may reduce these acid levels, and this may ease symptoms of GERD.
