Indigestion sufferers who save their sophisticated proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) medications for a last resort may also be saving money, a new study suggests. Researchers in the Netherlands found that patients who started treating their symptoms with common antacids and only used PPI meds if symptoms persisted saved slightly more money than patients who started with PPI medications and supplemented with antacids.
