Researchers at Cornell University say that eating apples may help slow the growth of breast tumors. An animal study found that 87 percent of the rats who were given an apple-free diet had rapid tumor growth, while 57 percent of those given the equivalent of one apple per day had tumor growth. And only 23 percent of the rats fed an equivalent of three to six apples per day developed tumors. The study found that the apple owed its cancer-fighting qualities to natural chemicals called flavonoids....
