A painful burning sensation in the stomach, belching, and nausea are all signs of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), but they may also be symptoms of a condition called dyspepsia. Dyspepsia is mainly characterized by pain in the middle of the stomach and it can be caused by untreated gastric ulcers, stomach cancer, or by the overuse of some pain-relieving meds.
