New surgery for Barrett's esophagus is less invasive

Researchers have developed a less invasive surgery technique for patients who need to have their esophagus removed due to esophageal cancer or Barrett's esophagus. With this new method, the esophagus is removed through incisions in the stomach and the neck instead of through an opening in the chest. This method reduces the risk of infection and pneumonia.
