Chewing gum may prevent heartburn

Of all the home remedies for easing heartburn, one of the simplest may also be one of the best--try chewing gum. A group of researchers determined that patients who chew sugar-free gum for 30 minutes following a meal have lower acid levels than patients who do not chew gum. Experts say it works by stimulating saliva, which neutralizes acid and forces fluids back into the stomach. Read more »
