Drugmaker Takeda Pharmaceuticals has announced that it has changed the name of the drug Kapidex to Dexilant (dexlasoprazole) to reduce the likelihood of dispensing errors. Like Kapidex, Dexilant is a delayed-released proton pump inhibitor medication approved for the treatment of heartburn associated with symptomatic non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease, the healing of erosive esophagitis (EE), and the maintenance of healed EE.
