A new combination drug, Caduet (amlodipine besylate, atorvastatin calcium), has shown promising results for Japanese researchers in recent clinical trials. Caduet was found to reduce both high blood pressure and high cholesterol to goal levels in patients in Asia and Latin America. Patients who took the new drug also reduced their 10-year risk of having a cardiovascular event by 54 percent.
