Study: Many COPD patients have GERD also

In a small study of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), researchers found that 57 percent also had gastroesophageal reflux disease. Only 26 percent of the people with GERD reported heartburn or other symptoms of acid reflux. Authors of the study said that they needed more data before they would recommend routine screening for GERD in COPD patients.  Read full story >
