Some patients say non-traditional therapies ease reflux

Some patients with chronic acid reflux say they've found relief, not from reducing acid in their stomach--but from adding it. Hydrochloric acid supplements work, proponents say, by tempering the lactic acid that is overproduced during stressful times. Still other patients say pink salt has helped them produce their own hydrochloric acid. But some doctors point out there is no evidence either of these supplements work, and they urge consumers to be cautious when trying these non-traditional methods.
