Acid reflux may be an immune condition: study

An overproduction of acid may not be behind chronic acid reflux, a new study suggests. Researchers in Texas say that immune system cells may cause inflammation, which can set off a chain of events that leads to heartburn and chest pain. Scientists say the animal study suggests that new medications should address the inflammatory response, rather than acid production.   Read full story >
