Small Magnet "Bracelet" for the Esophagus May Ease Heartburn

A magnet that sits around the esophagus could be a new treatment for heartburn, experts say. The titanium magnetic bracelet allows food to pass through the esophagus but tightens when acid flows back up the throat. So far, about 150 patients in the U.S. have been fitted with the Linx device, which can be inserted using an outpatient, keyhole surgery.
