Childhood Acid Reflux Leads to Adult-Size Problems

Obesity-linked acid reflux isn't just for adults any more. Experts say that overweight kids as young as six years old also show signs of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). A study of 690,000 children in Southern California found that obese children and teens were 30 to 40 percent more likely to have the condition--a factor that could mean they have permanent esophageal scarring by their late teens and early adulthood.  Read full story >
