PPIs Less Useful for Regurgitation Symptoms: Study

Proton Pump Inhibitors such as Prilosec and Prevacid work better at treating heartburn than regurgitation, a new study has found. The medications reduce acid, but bending over or wearing tight clothes can still allow neutralized and bitter-tasting fluid to wash into the throat. For patients whose acid reflux symptoms include regurgitation, surgery to tighten the passageway at the top of the stomach may be the best option, researchers found.
