5) Start to reward yourself for reaching goals. Take pride in your accomplishments and no matter how small, begin rewarding yourself each time you have completed a task or done something well.
6) Learn from your past mistakes. Try to determine what situations have caused setbacks in your past and envision how you might have done something differently in order to be more prepared when a similar situation arises in the future.
7) Replace the word “failure” in your vocabulary with the word “setback.” This will help you to view your past with a new perspective and help you understand that every situation provides you with a way to learn how to improve your future.
8) Forgive yourself for all that you have done wrong or all that you have not accomplished. Let go of the guilt that you feel and understand that mistakes in life are only failures if we view them that way. Accept that everyone makes mistakes and that if we learn from our failures, they are no longer failures but are now “learning experiences.”
9) Find a venting partner. Find a friend or relative that is willing to listen to you vent about things that have gone wrong. Make sure you let them know that you are not complaining or looking for them to “fix” your problems but instead they just need to listen and let you work through your problems to find your own answers.
10) Go through the process of “Changing Negative Thought Processes into Positive Thought Processes.”
11) Consider talking with a therapist or counselor to work through your self-esteem issues. Professionals can help you to create a better self-image and once you have you will find immense changes in your life.
