Quinns ADD/ADHD

By Quinn Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Hi, I'm Quinn Bradlee I'm 26 years old, and I am going to be starting a Socail Networking Utility Group called friendsofquinn.com.  The maine purpose of the site is to bring people with all sorts of problems together, and there they will be able to share their problems, ideas of how to fix them, and to even share videos if they would like to. It is going to be for, at first, young adults who have been diagnosed with a learning disability, such as ADD or ADHD and Dyslexia as well for VCFS, which is a rare syndrome that I was born with whic causes me to have dyslexia and ADD. Then if it is sucesfull I will make it for those with any kind of a learning disability and for any age. Just for some backround knowledge VCFS stands for velocardiofacail syndrom (velo-cardio-facial syndrome) and it is the second most common syndrome after Downs and not many people have it or know about it. On this site I will be interviewing my friends and other people who have been diagnosed with Dyslexia and ADD or ADHD; I hope that this helps people to be more open about their problems and learning problems.  The website will be launching on October 31, 2008 and I wanted to get your feedback and let me know what youthink of my idea.

I think this is great.  I have ADHD, but I also do assessment for special education.   I would like to lurk and read what others write about their disability.  I feel this would help me when working with children with disabilities.

I think its a great idea. I have a teenage boy with ADD and a writing disability who desperately keeps them a secret due to the stigma attached.  I'm a nurse and am all about educating the public on all forms of health issues. Education is key to opening the doors for everyone with a problem.  Face it, EVERYONE has SOMETHING wrong with them!!  It's good for those who have issues in common to see what works!

My 13 yr old was just diagnosed with Dyslexia and has ADD/ADHD.  We are finally getting her help after years of fighting with school systems.  Of course she is on a 3rd grade level in reading and on a 1st grade level in spelling and sight words and yet she is in 7th grade.  I think this is wonderful that you are doing this maybe more people will see it.  I am a nurse and I am always looking into stuff.  Christi

That I would find people out there who not only have Dyslexia but an attention problem as well. I always knew there was something different about me from the time I was in kindergarden. I scored in the top 5% of my class, so why could I not do as well as or better then my pers? I had been in special ed untill 11th gread when I found out the true reasion. I was diignosed with dyslexia at The Gow School then sent to UB speach and hearing cliniq where they also said I have ADHD and CAPD (central aduitory prossesing disorer). I almost felt like it was to late I was giving up at this point, why should I try when it will not make any difference on any thing I do? Then I went to the summer program and took reconstructive languge, my reading went from 3.5 to 5.6 gread level...I got books on tape changed my IEP, ect. I tryed going to Trocare for massage theripy but the class part was too much for me. I did lots of reasherch and finnly got the couage to ask my doctor for adderal. I am 27 now and I wonder what things would have been like if I had done that sooner. I take 30mg xr and its amazing what a difference it is. Come to find out EVERY one in my family has the same sort of problems.
