Regarding Omega 3 supplements, I looked on Ned Hallowell's site to see about dosages, etc., but was not able to find that information summarized by him (though there were some blog comments). Is 2000mg an appropriate dosage for any age/weight? (My son is a very slim 13 year old.) Also, are there recommendations regarding brands? I take Whole Foods Fish Oil - is that appropriate for my son? And, lastly, should it be taken in one or two doses and with or without food?
Many thanks!
Hi Eileen,
I have been taking Omega-3 & Omega-6, 1000 mg x 2 per day and I have to say I have really been surprised at how well it actually has been helping me.
I used to take an expensive medication (that I can no longer afford) that showed me how much something (medication) could help me with my A.D.D. symptoms. So it gives me a good basis to start with; knowing what the Omega supplement is helping me.
I am more focused and actually get things done. It just seems get me "going" in the same way as the medication I took did. I don't have to concentrate on my typing so hard, to be accurate, I have memories coming back to me that I hadn't thought about in years - the same thing is happening to me!
There are also some ongoing studies in Australia regarding how Fish Oils are helping children with A.D.H.D. Just do a search on Google News and you will find several articles.
Thanks for this ADHD web site, and your SharePosts & comments.
