There are many different medical professionals that can diagnose ADHD, some individuals begin with their family doctor, others may seek out a psychologist or a psychiatrist.
One of our members recently asked on the Q & A section which medical professional would be best to diagnose ADHD.

I was diagnosed by a Board Certified Psychiatrist to whom I was referred by a therapist with a Master's in Social Work. She said I needed medical intervention as well as talk therapy. I now see a different, even more highly qualified Psychiatrist who does talk therapy along with medication management. This is the only combination that works for me.
