This week, one of the questions in the Q & A section was from a mother asking about ways to help her child, who pulls out his hair.
We have had questions about this before, and Merely Me posted information on this topic.
My question this week is:
Do you, your child, or ...

I have ADHD and I do have a bit of a tweezer to my eyebrow compulsion. I do not have much hair in the first place...but for some reason I will sometimes pick up my tweezers and GO TO TOWN. I have had countless experiences where I will not even notice that hours have passed since I started plucking out my hair.
I never gave it a second thought until you added this question. What is your opinion on the situation?
PS...congratulation on the new workbook...it is fantastic!
Thanks, I am glad you found the book helpful.
As far as hair pulling, I haven't had personal experience with this issue, I don't even tweeze my eyebrows because I can't stand pulling out my hair, but I do get questions about it both here and on AnxietyConnection.com. It seems to be a way for people to relieve stress.
I would think about the times you do this, is there something going on in your life and you find this as a way to relieve tension? Is it an impulse? Do you hyperfocus and lose track of other things going on around you?
Figuring out why would be the first step to changing a behavior (if you want to change it, it may not interfere with your life, in which case it really isn't a problem and you can not worry about it)
