Imagine you are attending back-to-school night for your 8 year old son. You don't know many of the parents of your child's classmates and are standing off by yourself, looking around the classroom. You overhear a few other parents talking about the "bad" kids in the classroom, the ones that disrupt the class, don't follow instructions and are always getting in trouble for talking or fooling around. They imply that the parents must not discipline their children. You realize one of the children they are talking about is yours.
What would you do?
Would you hang your head and move away, hoping no one will realize who your child is?
Would you confront the parents, using this as a "learning moment" and hopefully educate the parents on ADHD?
How would you handle this situation? Share your ideas.
